Grandmother of Three

Grandmother of three
With wrinkles on her face
Looks down at her wedding ring
And it takes her back to the place

The place where she met him
On that rainy summer day
She was about to leave
When he walked up to her to say

Excuse me, Ma’am
But I must get your name
I sure would like to see you again
And I really hope you’d like the same

She blushed and giggled
And told him her name
And as his smile grew bigger
Hers did the same

So he took her out one night
And said I think you should know
Just how beautiful your eyes look
Under the soft moonlight glow

And after many moonlit nights
He softly took her hand
Looked her in the eyes
And asked if he could always be her man

The love they shared was different
It was simple and pure
Something that many people
Search their entire lives for

And as she sits here today
Looking back at the past
She looks beside her at him smiling
And she’s thankful true love can last
