Strong Now

Her memories are like crystal glass
Broken yet clear
Her memories come and go so fast
But she’ll always remember her fear

She tries to lock up the angst of her past
And she prays those horrible memories won’t last
She wants them gone forever
And she blocks out the image of his face
She knows she can never go back to that place
Where he planned to hold her down forever

But she’s strong now
Because it’s been a long time now
Since she finally broke free
And it’s like she’s awaken
Yeah, she’s awaken
And she can see clearly

As she paints her nails blood red
She remembers the last words that he said
And she shivers
Because with every painful bruise and mark
He made her world gray and dark
And she kept silent

His drunken words led to hurtful tears
He had been the center of all her fears
And she just took it
She told herself it wouldn't last for long
She kept quiet and believed he would soon be gone
But he wasn't leaving

So she knew her silence had to break
Because his strong arms were too much to take
She had to get away
So she told herself she wouldn’t let him control her
And she was so tired letting him own her
So she ran away

And she’s strong now
Because it’s been a long time now
Since she finally broke free
And it’s like she’s awaken
Yeah, she’s awaken
And she can see clearly
She can finally see clearly
